I love products that were designed out of need by the creator. GG Shorts came to be when co-founder Amy was frustrated with the lack of running shorts out there that offered longer inseams. This is the first pair GG Shorts has come out with and boasts a 6″ inseam, much longer than the 2″ or 4″ inseams I typically see on the market.
I love that the fabric is super soft and that there’s a draw string, nothin’ worse than shorts that won’t stay in place. The shorts have two large pockets on the side, perfect for stashing your iPhone, keys or some fuel during long runs. They’re great for layering over running tights in the winter, because let’s be honest running tights aren’t exactly flattering on anybody.
If you’re looking for a pair of shorts that offers a bit more coverage than shorts you would typically, definitely check out GG Shorts. You won’t be able to buy a pair until March 2016, however you can add yourself to the email list to be the first to know when they’ve officially launched.
Registration for the Brooklyn Half Marathon in May happened last week. After a bit of deliberating (okay, like two seconds of thinking about it) I decided against running this spring half… and probably any half marathon this spring for that matter.
But don’t let that deter you from running a half marathon. I whole heartedly thinking that anyone that has even the tiniest bit of desire to run a half marathon, should. I was thinking about why I love the half marathon distance during 30-seconds sprints on the treadmill at Body Space Fitness.
First and foremost, it’s a challenging but attainable distance. Yes, you’ll have to train for it and work really hard, especially the first time around. but as long as you follow a smart training plan you’ll get there. When I was training for my first half marathon a friend mentioned that if I could run 7 miles, I could run 13.1. I thought she was crazy, but now that I’ve done a few half marathons, I agree with this theory.
There’s also something insanely satisfying about conquering a goal like that. If you’re like me and grew up being a terrible runner that walked the mile run in high school (truth), seeing the mileage creep up, up, up, is kind of insane. My first 10 mile run was one of the most satisfying fitness moments of my life… and this is coming from the girl that can now say she ran a marathon.
So wishing lots of love and luck to those training for their first half marathons this spring. You got this!

I agree! EVERYONE should run a half marathon at some point in their life. It gives you the most amazing sense of accomplishment and it’s addicting. I did my first May 2015 and have done 3 more since.

isn’t it crazy how addicting it is? I kept saying I would do one and done… uh I guess not!
