I’ve been setting monthly intentions for a while. This month I’m just not feeling it. I’m a believer in listening to those subtle hints from your brain. If you’re not feeling it, don’t force it!
This month instead the idea of setting a few mini goals resonates with me more. I call them “mini-goals” because none of them require a ton of effort or require me to make a major life change. They are just some little things I want to commit to over the next month.
Cook dinner at least once.
Not once a week but like once… period. Since Bar Method opened this summer I’ve been really really shitty about making dinner. I don’t think I’ve cooked dinner more than 3 times since July. YIKES. To my defense: I eat dinner on the go Monday in-between teaching classes. Tuesday night I get home around 8PM after a long day of teaching and I’m a shell of a human being. Wednesday I have no excuse for. And Thursday is my sushi night — a ritual I’ve been passionate about for the last 5 years.
I cook lunch every day, so that’s something, but this month I want to commit to cooking dinner ONCE. What’s something easy, pescatarian and dairy-free I should make that serves one?!!?!?
Read 4 books.
I’ve set the massive goal to read 52 books in 2020 — roughly 1 book a week.
I typically only read about 2 books a month, if that, but focusing on this goal has really encouraged me to do a whole lot more reading. I find I’m spending less time scrolling Instagram or mindlessly watching TV and instead am filling that time with reading. So here’s to finishing 4 books this month and staying on track with my goal!
Commit to my weekly yoga practice.
I am always embarrassed to admit that I’m a yoga teacher that doesn’t take yoga classes as often as I should. Obviously I’m a believer in the power and importance of yoga — I teach 9 yoga classes a week! But lately, I’ve been struggling to motivate myself to actually get my butt into a yoga class.
I did, however, take a class this past week. It was Mac Miller themed and I might’ve cried HARD during the final postures. Now I just gotta keep the momentum going and make it to class once a week.
Get a facial.
My mom kindly gifted me with a gift card to Hey Day for facial. I seriously need it, my skin is dry especially after my trip to California last week. Now I just gotta look at my schedule and find a good time to go.
Take better care of my apartment.
More often than not my apartment looks like a tornado whirled through it. There are shoes EVERYWHERE. Coats? Never hung back up in my coat closet. My kitchen counter? A collecting spot for mail I haven’t opened.
By the end of the week, I look around my apartment and it’s a total hot mess. I want to commit to keeping my apartment a bit more organized. And I also need to file a few work orders with my building maintenance guy for things that haven’t been working for months.
