I had this moment yesterday while I was sitting with my grandma, brother, and nephew. This feeling of pure bliss. And also realizing how far I’ve come in my anxiety journey.

We were eating lunch outside. The food was great. The view was perfect. There was a slight breeze. And I was in awe of thinking about my grandma hanging out with her great grandson.

I thought about how I was feeling a year ago right now. Anything outside of my usual life routine in nyc often times resulted in bad anxiety.

I didn’t realize how much my anxiety had taken from me. But then I have a day like yesterday where I can *feel* just how different I feel.

If you’re struggling know that you’re not the only one 💗 And it does get better. Little by little.

How To Get Back On Track This Fall

Hi, my name is Kayla and I’ll keep on wearing crop tops until it’s freezing cold out.

Sometimes I feel like the only millennial blogger out there that doesn’t love fall. Hear me out:

  • Fall means summer is over.
  • Fall used to always mean going back to school. How depressing is that?
  • Fall means the weather is going to start getting cooler. No thank you.
  • I can’t even reap the benefits of it being Pumpkin Spice Latte Season because the Starbucks concoction contains milk. I’m lactose intolerant.

This year feels different. For once I’m not heading back to school, which feels both weird and like a HUGE sigh of relief. My life and schedule aren’t epically changing now that Labor Day has come and past.

This summer has been amazing between travelling to Europe and Costa Rica, graduating grad school and starting a new gig as a yoga teacher. I’ve also done my best to soak up summer and enjoy some downtime.

I live basically on the NYU campus so even though I personally am not going back to school this year, this week it’s been easy to get swept up in the new school year vibes. As sad as I am to kiss summer goodbye, I do appreciate the exciting vibes that come with fall. It’s almost like a mini New Years. There’s this newness in the air and it’s a chance to recommit to old goals and set some new ones.

I’m excited to get back on track and recommit to some goals I set at the beginning of the year. Today I’m partnering with adidas to share some cute crop tops and how I’m planning on getting back on track this fall.

Revisit your goals from January

Doesn’t January feel like F-O-R-E-V-E-R ago? I mean, it kind of was.

September is a great time to review those goals, intentions and resolutions you set oh so long ago. For me I have my intentions for 2018 hanging over my desk as a constant reminder.

Take a second to really sit down and evaluate how things are going — are you taking the necessary baby steps to get there? What things can you tweak or seek out to get there?

I personally still struggle with my intention to take a second before I say yes. I get SO excited when an opportunity comes up be it a potential job, blogging partnership or event invite. Almost immediately after saying yes I regret it or I realize I’ve overcommitted myself. Ya know the feeling? I’m constantly reminding myself to take a moment before responding YES, but I’m actively working on it.

Set some new goals

It’s okay if things have changed since January! I know for me it’s certainly been a whirlwind eight months and I’m focused on different things than I was earlier this year.

Sit down and set some new goals for the last push of 2018. Things you’re super hyped and excited about right now.

I’ve been feeling a lot of imposter syndrome grossness lately. It’s that feeling when you downplay your qualifications and worry that people will realize you’re a “fraud”. Guys, the imposter syndrome struggle is REAL. I’ve had many many times recently in which I am worried people will think I’m a sham of a yoga teacher for one reason or another.

A major intention I’m setting for the end of the year is to start believing in myself, my ability and my power more than I currently do. That sounds SO cheesy when I type it out, but it’s SO important and something I think a lot of us don’t do. Instead of drowning in thoughts of self-doubt, I’m going to focus on all the reasons I am qualified and capable to do what I do.

Find your new groove

Okay, totally departing from the topic of goal setting, let’s talk about finding your new groove post summer.

My schedule this summer has been ALL over the place between subbing and traveling. Which was all glorious, don’t get me wrong. But I’m excited to find my new groove with my new schedule.

Maybe your schedule is changing too thanks to the new school year. Or maybe you’re routine is going to be slightly tweaked without summer travel.

Starting this week I’ll now have eight permanent yoga classes I’m teaching. I’m SO excited to be teaching that much and I’m also SO excited to settle into the new, permanent routine of these classes. I know for me once I have a concrete schedule, I’m WAY more productive and can find a good routine.

This weekend I sat down and looked at my typical work schedule to figure out my new routine. Things like when are the best days to take phone calls and meetings. What days should I really focus on blogging and my own business. What will my new fitness routine look like? Also when is the best day to do laundry consistently every week, because the amount of sweaty clothes I produce from teaching is ridiculous.

Take that time to really get organized. Trust me, you’ll feel a bit less overwhelmed by all this newness.

✨

Your turn: What steps are you taking to get back on track this fall? Anyone else also wear summer-y outfits until it’s freezing cold out!?

✨

Thank you so much to adidas for sponsoring this post and making the cutest crop tops. Shop the black cropped tee and the white crop top.

As a former theater major who now works in the book industry, I was especially excited to see this book to musical adaptation on Broadway. I remember loving the book in middle school and I was absolutely blown away seeing the musical. My jaw literally dropped at some points, I was so in awe.

@outsidersmusical is now playing at the Jacobs Theatre on Broadway. Be sure to get your tickets at outsidersmusical.com or via the link in my bio.
