Yesterday I talked about what I’ve been making in the kitchen lately. In addition to making some meals at home, I’ve still been ordering delivery and takeout from some nearby restaurants. I keep joking with my parents that I’m singlehandedly supporting the restaurants of Greenwich Village. What can I say, I love sushi.
I know not everyone feels comfortable with that at this time (we all gotta do what works for us!) but I wanted to share some of the restaurants that are still open that I adore. This is obviously just a small fraction of restaurants currently open in NYC, and most are close to me in Greenwich Village.
Where I’m Getting Takeout / Delivery From:
Ivan Ramen: I love their chicken paitan ramen. I typically order from them via Postmates. (Ramen / Lower East Side)
Spice: Spice has a few locations — I order from the Union Square one on Seamless. I’ve had a ton of things from here over the years and especially love their Drunk Man noodles and Panang Curry. (Thai / Various locations)
Japonica: Hands down, my favorite sushi place ever. I will say it hasn’t been as great as it usually is lately, but they’ve still got great sushi. I’m not sure if they have an easy way to order online — you can call for pick-up and delivery ($30 min) (Sushi + Japanese / Union Square)
Sugarfish: If I’m feeling extra fancy I get sushi from Sugarfish. Don’t expect to get miso soup or spicy tuna rolls, Sugarfish prides itself in serving more traditional sushi options. I adore everything that comes in the “Trust Me – Lite” box. They deliver via Postmates (Sushi / Flatiron + Soho)
La Palapa: My favorite for brunch. I’ve been getting pick-up from them every weekend as a little treat (and there’s an open Starbucks nearby on St. Marks and Avenue A!) The huevos rancheros verdes is one of my favorite meals, period but their fish tacos are mighty fine too. You can also get drinks to-go or delivered from them! I’ve been calling in my order directly to the restaurant. (Mexican / East Village)
Mexicue: Mexicue kindly sent dinner the other weekend and it was SO good. I got the Shrimp tacos, chips + guac and a margarita. Yup yup, they are delivering margaritas.
