Oof, another hot one in Manhattan today!
[warning explicit lyrics]
I’m trying to make the most of this heave wave…
-I swapped my usual morning chai for iced coffee which was refreshing after a sweaty workout
I love me some iced coffee but I basically finish the whole drink in 2 large gulps! The downside of iced coffee…
-I took full advantage of the breezy roof at my parent’s building
Gorgeous view, tanning, reading, and taking a dip in the pool? Perfect Sunday afternoon if you ask me.
My workout today was at Mark Fisher Fitness. This class was more or less the same as my first Ninja Essentials class last week, but for some reason I loved today’s class a million times more. I was honestly starting to feel a bit worried about my month with MFF and if spending a month there was a good choice, but todays class eased my worries. I really respect MFF’s focus on form and technique- the classes are super small and you get lots of personal attention. I love that the moves are back to basics- kettlebell swings, squats, lunges, push-ups, nothin’ weird or crazy fancy. Arguably my favorite part (besides taking classes with broadway stars and the plethora of musical theater references throughout classes) is finishing off with some foam rolling because foam rolling is fabulous and I don’t do it nearly as often as I should. I’m now excited to take two new classes later this week.
I’m not one to meal plan but I’m actually feeling prepared to conquer this week with lots of homemade meals
Already in the fridge:
– side dish of veggie fried rice
– batter for rasberry oatcakes
– spinach, edamame and strawberries for salads
– cooked rice for fried rice, a mexican bowl or vegan curry bowl.
I don’t think I will ever be one of those people who can cook for 3 hours on Sunday and have every meal for the week ready to go in tupperware, but I’m starting to learn that cooking bigger portions means I can make 2 meals at once. It’s also helpful to already cook lots of brown rice for the week since I love using it in various meals but it takes forever to make. I’m trying real hard to cut back on my takeout addiction and make more meals at home! Having a vegan restaurant across the street makes it too easy to be lazy 🙂
Hope you all have a good week… and that this heat wave goes away!
What meals do you have planned for the week?
How are you making the most of the heat?
