So, June was a pretty awesome month if you ask me. New job, ran my third half marathon and went to Cancun.
Here are some of my favorite things from this past month and what I’m looking forward to in July.
Fashion I’m loving
Anything and everything from Spiritual Gangster.
I want to buy everything from Spiritual Gangster. I love their California vibe… a vibe this New Yorker wishes she could eminent more but alas I’m the epitome of Type A.
Totally fell in love with this crop while I was shopping at Bandier.
Foods I’m loving
All the avocado toast, please
If you follow me in instagram you know I’ve been having a total love affair with avocado toast this month. Most days recently I’ve been working from home, so avocado toast has become my new go-to breakfast post workouts in the morning.
Purchasing avocados has always intimidated me, but so far I’ve been pretty successful using these tips on finding the perfect avocado. I like to top the smashed avocado with salt, pepper, a tiny bit of olive oil and chia seeds because why not. Depending on how hungry I am, I might make some scrambled eggs on the side. So freaken good.
Baked tilapia + grilled asparagus
Until this month I’ve never cooked fish because I was convinced I would automatically poison myself.
Baked tilapia is pretty easy to make, who knew. All I’ve been doing is spraying the filets with a little bit of olive oil and then dipping them into almond flour. Bake on a cookie tin for roughly 20 minutes and donezo. Even I can handle it.
Whole Foods’ already prepared asparagus have been a lifesaver. Just pop ’em in the oven and you’re good to go.
Kitehill Vegan Cream Cheese
I’ve never been all that impressed with vegan / dairy free cream cheese and tend to eat them as a necessary evil because I’m Jewish and really like bagels with cream cheese every so often. Most of the ones I’ve tried are filled with a long list of ingredients and weird sounding chemicals that I probably shouldn’t be consuming. Kitehill Vegan cream cheese is definitely the tastiest one I’ve tried so far, plus the ingredient list is simple and respectable.
Schmeared on a rice cake = my favorite new afternoon snack.
Workouts I’m loving
Yoga at I.AM.You
I already professed my love with this yoga studio earlier this month, but why not say it again. I’m happy the morning yoga class has fit in with my work schedule once a week and help me stick to my goal of going to yoga at least once every week. Each class has been a little bit different as far as sequence goes, but equally as enjoyable as the first one.
What I’m Reading
The Knock Off by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. I LOVED this book and was kind of devastated when I finished it on vacation. It’s all about a fashion magazine that’s going totally digital. The timing was perfect considering I now technically work in fashion :). The way it makes fun of start-up culture is pretty hilarious. I can’t recommend this book enough as a fun summer read.
Highlights from the month
Things I’m Excited About…
Going to Colorado
I’ve never been to Colorado before and am excited to be going with the whole extended family for my cousin’s wedding! I’m not sure if our hotel is walking distance to anything fitness related, but I’m hoping at the very least we’ll get some hiking and exploring in while I’m there!
