Today’s my first day of Yoga Teacher Training! It totally feels like the first day of school– I got a cute new outfit, a new notebook and some first day of school jitters. After dreaming about Yoga Teacher Training for so many years I can’t believe it’s finally happening.
Since I’m not sure how physically demanding training is going to be, I decided to pause my Fitreserve membership for the upcoming month. I’m sure I’ll find some time to sneak in a workout that isn’t yoga, but as I mentioned in my June goals Yoga Teacher Training is my number one priority this month.
I’m a bit sad to be pausing my membership, but know it makes sense. In the meantime, here’s a peak at my Fitreserve (<— get $50 off your first month) workouts from May.

Where I Went…
Yoga Vida (3 times)
No surprise that I hit up Yoga Vida because that’s where I’m doing my Yoga Teacher Training 🙂 After I paid the deposit for teacher training I actually was able to take class for free so went a few more additional times not on Fitreserve.
Uplift Studios (4 times)
As per usual, I went to Uplift’s Strength class because it’s my favorite. I was super excited to go one of the times with my friend Tessa whom I’ve been working out with on Tuesday’s since she has off too. She commented that the hour long class just flew by– and it’s so true! I think that’s one of the many reasons I love the class, it goes by fast!
Title Boxing (1 time)
This was my second time working out at Title Boxing, I definitely recommend it for those curious about fitness focused boxing classes. While it’s definitely not technique heavy, I like it because the class is obviously about getting a good work out. While in theory I’d love to be a prize fighter one day, I’d honestly rather get a good work out than focus on technique beyond what you need to know for safety.
The first time I had taken class there back in February I complained about not being about to hear the instructor, I didn’t have as many issues with that this time around and felt less clueless.
Overthrow Boxing Club (1 time)
I’ve only been to Overthrow one other time, and that was in the middle of a blizzard so the experience felt kind of wonky.
I love love love the vibe but don’t think the class is for me, after going to Title the previous week this class felt messy and disjointed. It was a totally different kind of workout than the first time I went which makes me think the instructor gets free reign of how they teach class.
Exceed Physical Culture (3 times)
You know I love a class + instructor when I’m willing to trek to the Upper East Side for it 🙂 Marianna’s class is well worth the trip. I was SO excited that we focused on pull-ups this week, my arch nemesis but also a necessary evil for trapeze. Gotta get my lat muscles back in flying shape!
Body Space Fitness (3 times)
I went to Metabolic Burn twice and then one of the newer classes Cardio Strength. Metabolic Burn is more of a circuit based class where you hit each station for a set number of seconds, whereas Cardio Strength you hop from station to station counting out reps.
Besides my inability to count while working out (it’s hard, yo) and my tendency to forget how many of each exercise I’m supposed to be doing, I LOVED the Cardio Strength class and it was deceptively hard. It’s really great because you can work at your own pace and decide how much you want to push it or if you need to take it slow.
Go Figure– Armonk (1 time)
Trying to find a good place to workout when I go to my parent’s house in Westchester is really annoying. I grew up in Northern Westchester so any of the big names in Scarsdale are over 40 minutes away.
I was excited to find a barre studio in northern Westchester on Fitreserve and took a class there over Memorial Day Weekend. I’ll always be a bit iffy on barre classes as someone with a cranky rotator cuff and tight hips, but it sufficed as a workout option close to home.
Circuit of Change (1 time)
Circuit of Change is one of those classes that I just crave sometimes. The class is a bit of a fusion between yoga, cardio kickboxing and just plain fitness. You start off with a nice juicy yoga warm-up, then comes the sweaty part which involves lots of jumping around on your mat and some boxing moves, then you end class with a lovely stretch and shavasana.
It’s one of those classes that I go to when I want the mind clearing benefits of yoga, but also want to move around a little. I also like that it’s pretty close to my apartment for early morning classes.
Question: What studios have you been loving lately?
Ash Diamond says
I really want to take at least one boxing class this month – I miss it! I also want to try Exceed and Body Space!
